Arthroscopic Labral Repair

Arthroscopic Labral Repair

On the socket side (glenoid) of the shoulder, the labrum is a unique kind of cartilage that functions as a gasket or “O-ring.” In your shoulder, a section of the labrum is ripped. The labrum can occasionally give way due to what seems to be a small injury. Sometimes the issue is caused by a single (acute) injury.

Signs of Symptoms

Because the symptoms of a glenoid labrum rupture are so similar to those of other shoulder ailments, diagnosis is challenging. Among the symptoms are:

  • Pain, typically during overhead activities
  • A feeling of instability in the shoulder;
  • Locking, popping, grinding, or catching;
  • Pain throughout the day or at night;
  • Reduced range of motion;
  • Weakness

Benefits of Arthroscopic Labral Repair

Stability Restoration: The major goal is to stabilize the shoulder in order to reduce the likelihood of dislocations or bouts of instability in the future.
Better

Shoulder Function: By restoring the shoulder’s strength and range of motion, labrum repair can enhance performance in both everyday and sporting activities.

Minimally Invasive Procedure: Compared to open surgery, arthroscopy involves fewer incisions, which may lead to reduced scarring and discomfort after the procedure.

What is the Procedure of Arthroscopic Surgery?

The torn labrum is sutured back to the glenoid bone (labral repair) through surgery. Occasionally, a tenodesis is required to repair injury to the biceps tendon. Make an appointment with Shree Ram Neuro Centre right now if you’re unsure if surgery is in your future.
