Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)

Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) are both important ligaments in the knee joint. Located at the back of the knee, the PCL is essential in keeping the tibia from sliding backward. When a strong force strikes the ligament, as it frequently does in contact sports or when the knee is flexed and hits a surface, PCL rips usually result. These tears may cause instability in the knee, which frequently necessitates reconstruction surgery to fix. This minimally invasive technique is carried out with an arthroscope. Based on the particular case, the following associated procedures were carried out:

  1. Knee Arthroscopy
  2. ACL Reconstruction
  3. PCL Reconstruction
  4. Meniscus Surgery
  5. Articular Cartilage Repair
  6. Medial & Lateral Ligament Repair
  7. Arthroscopic Arthrolysis
  8. Multi Ligament Reconstruction
  9. Dislocating Patella Surgery
  10. High Tibial Osteotomy (HTO)
  11. Unicompartmental Knee Replacement
  12. Total Knee Replacement

Symptoms of Posterior cruciate ligament Injury

The following are typical indicators of damage to the posterior cruciate ligament:

  • Edema and knee discomfort that appear both quickly and gradually after the injury
  • Knee swelling that causes stiffness and may cause a limp
  • Having trouble walking
  • It feels as though the knee might “give out.”

Treatments for PCL

The Treatment options for PCL include:

  • Bracing.
  • Rest and Rehabilitation Exercises.
  • Arthroscopic PCL Avulsion Fixation.
  • Open avulsion PCL Avulsion Fixation.
  • Arthroscopic single-bundle PCL Reconstruction.
  • Arthroscopic double-bundle PCL Reconstruction.
